Isla de la Luna, also known as Koati Island, is a Bolivian island located in Lake Titicaca. Situated southeast of Isla del Sol, it stretches 2.8 km (1.7 miles) long and 0.76 km (0.47 miles) wide, with a total area of 91.2 hectares (225 acres). Its landscape, marked by the winds, is typical of the Altiplano islands.

History and Cultural Significance
Isla de la Luna was a sacred site for the Incas. According to legend, it was home to the Iñakuyu Temple, also called the Palace of the Virgins of the Sun. This temple was dedicated to the moon and the goddess Mama Quilla. It is said that the island was only inhabited by women, the Acllas who were devoted to learning various crafts, including weaving. Some of them were destined to become concubines of the Inca emperor. Only the emperor himself was allowed to set foot on the island
Today, Isla de la Luna is inhabited by a few indigenous families of Quechua and Aymara origin. They live from agriculture, livestock, and selling handicrafts to visitors. The languages spoken on the island are Quechua, Aymara, and Spanish.
